What Are Some Fall Camping Games Kids Will Love?
There are plenty of fun camping games for your kids to enjoy during the fall that they might not take advantage of in the summer heat. With team cooperation and fun mental engagement, you can create some great memories for the whole family on your next trip with your travel trailer.
- Capture the Flag
- Campfire Stories
- Nature Scavenger Hunt
- Glow in the Dark Ring Toss
1) Capture the Flag
This is an old-time favorite and fun for the whole family! Play in the afternoon or early evening in an open field with lots of leaves, or a forested area with trees and rocks to hide around. You can use some features from your camper trailer as a base for your game as well.
- Split everyone into two even teams. You can make it kids vs. parents for fun.
- Establish the bases that the flags will be captured from. This can be a circle of leaves if you’re in the open or a tree stump if you’re in the forest.
- Your flag can be any camping gear or object of your choice. Capture the flag and play safe!
2) Campfire Stories
Make this a collaborative storytime game with everyone! Sit around the campfire and have one person start off the story, continuing the story around the fire with each person taking turns telling it. Try to make it as crazy and fun as possible–have the kids let their imaginations run wild with this one.
3) Nature Scavenger Hunt
A scavenger hunt with the kids in their little fall jackets playing in the cool air will be a time to remember. Have them learn about new rocks, plants, and creatures by creating a scavenger hunt along the nature trail. Create a list of wildlife and vegetation for them to discover!
Pro Tip: Hide and Seek is always a fun go-to activity when camping with the kids!
4) Glow in the Dark Ring Toss
Grab a pack of bendable glow sticks with the bracelet connectors to make them into rings. Light them up and set up a water bottle on a picnic table to toss them onto. For some added fun, make it a potato sack race with sleeping bags followed up by tossing the glow stick rings. Make it a contest if everyone is up for a competition!
It’s great to encourage your kids to play these fall camping games. You’ll create unforgettable memories and the little ones will have an enjoyable time. Plan your activities ahead before you set off for your trip, that way you can dive right into the fun once you’re settled.
